[The Star] Tambun Indah, Taiwan’s Show Chwan in Penang hospital JV plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Tambun Indah Land Bhd and Taiwan’s Show Chwan Medical Care Corporation plan to work together to set up a private specialist hospital in Pearl City Business Park, Simpang Ampat, Penang state.

Both companies had on Tuesday signed an MoU for the proposed Penang Show Chwan Hospital.

 

“The project is envisaged to be a multi-disciplinary medical centre with approximately 250 beds situated on a four-acre land at Pearl City Business Park, ” it said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia.

The hospital would cater to the population in Seberang Perai Selatan and Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang which includes various towns such as Simpang Ampat, Valdor, Jawi, Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Minyak and Juru and surrounding industrial parks.

 

Tambung Indah said the Project, if established, would help promote Penang as a major medical tourism destination or hub in the region.

Show Chwan manages a healthcare system in Taiwan, and has its corporate office in Changhua City. It owns and operates eight hospitals which provide a full range of medical specialties.

Currently, the hospitals have about 3,600 beds and more than 5,000 employees in its operations.

Tambun Indah said the MoU would see both parties collaborate and carry out a feasibility study for the project.

Under the MoU, the parties shall jointly contribute their own expertise and specialty including hospital master planning and development; project management and construction; hospital operations, management and infrastructure.
